CLIMATE ACTION BROOKLINE asks: GEOTHERMAL in greater BOSTON?
Climate Action Brookline welcomes Audrey Schulman and Zeyneb Ma gavi of HEET (Home Energy Efficiency Team) to tell us about their exciting new project. We know about the dangers posed by leaks of natural gas f rom aging pipelines in the greater Boston area only because HEET alerted us to the problem. HEET, based in Cambridge MA, is a VERY smart and effective advocacy group. Now HEET has carried their idea to its exciting and radical next step: GEO MICRO DISTRICTS. Rather than replace our crumbli ng old natural gas pipelines with new natural gas pipelines – thereby continuing our dependence on a dangerous fossil fuel for another hundred y ears – why not put in conduits for GEOTHERMAL energy INSTEAD?
HEAT AN D COOL YOUR HOUSE WITH GEOTHERMAL ENERGY!?!
HEET will tell us about t heir partnership (!) with utility company Eversource (!) to PILOT such a pr oject in THREE NEIGHBORHOODS in greater Boston. The project may begin as early as this October. You may get so excited that you will want to join the pilot. Learn all about it on Monday March 9!

Let no one doubt Climate Action Brookline’s commitm ent to climate action, our energy, and our eagerness to work assertively in pursuit of our climate objectives.
We have been frustrated at the slow pace of climate legislation actually making it through to passage by both houses at the Massachusetts State House. We are hoping that the deb ate would help us identify specific strategies to break through the logjam.
We consider this a sleeves-rolled-up working meeting. We hope we come away energized with a concrete sense of actions we can take to moti vate the Massachusetts House and Senate to actually pass hard-hitting and e ffective legislation that will address the climate crisis in meaningful way s.
Hope to see you there!
